The Saudi cement producer, Saudi Cement Company, has hired Montelektro to automate a railway terminal designed to transport cement that includes the delivery, storage, and loading of cement by train. The terminal has a loading capacity of 1000 tons per hour and the ability to load cargo on 16 wagons at a time.
As part of this project, Montelektro’s experts designed the complete control system and power distribution. We installed and delivered a solution for low and medium voltage distribution, two transformers with a total power of 4MVA, MCC panels, executing the design with intelligent motor starters and ABB’s DCS 800xA system. In addition, we have successfully implemented lighting and fire protection system, video surveillance and telephone network in the plants, and put into operation the SW control system.

The Dutch shipping company Royal Bodewes is one of the leading shipbuilding companies in Europe. This family company has been building ships for more than 200 years, and their specialty is cargo ships with a carrying capacity of 1,500 to 15,000 tons.
In its fleet, it owns, among other things, a ship intended for the transport of cement. The ship “Furuvik” is equipped with a pneumatic system for unloading cargo and is designed for handling bulk material, ash and GGBFS. The capacity of the cargo space is 6500 tons, and the cargo loading capacity is 1000 tons per hour. On the other hand, the capacity of unloading cement in one hour of operation is 350 tons, and with an additional rotating system for mechanical emptying of cargo in trucks or trains 200 tons per hour.
The automation project included the design and implementation of a new control system, installation of the MCC panels, implementation of software for automatic loading and unloading of cargo, and remote maintenance via GSM system. In addition to the automation of the process, the delivered solution enabled the client to monitor the position of the ship and its status in real time and store data in the Cloud, making them available on a Web app.
The Jurong Port in Singapore is one of the leading Asian ports for the reception and delivery of bulk, liquid general, and container cargo brought to their country by ships from all over the world. The port is equipped with the most modern machines and technology that enables a fast and reliable cargo management system. The IBAU machine is intended for unloading bulky material from ships, such as OPC, a mixture of OPC, GGBFS, and ash. Special devices such as vertical, horizontal, and screw conveyors enable the transfer of materials from the ship’s storage to the conveyor belt.
The scope of work of Montelektro’s experts on this project included the creation of a control system, design, and delivery of an electric tank that includes a transformer, MCC, PLC electric motor distributor, and control room. In addition, we supplied the Singaporean client with a control system for automatic unloading of ships, which enables a three-dimensional display of the ship’s position in real-time, and a collision-avoidance system.
